Kinsley’s Birthday: 3 years old

IMG 1766

My baby girl is 3 years old!  She is such a wonderful, sweet, helpful, fun, smart, cute girl.  We sure love her and feel so blessed to have her in our family.  At 3 years old, here are a few things about her:

-She is potty trained during the day, not at night yet.
-She LOVES dolls, purses and especially toy phones.  She has probably 10 phones and will carry them all around.  She also has long conversations with people in her family on those phones.  It’s really cute because she’ll talk like there is actually someone on the other end,  It always makes me laugh.
-She is really good at playing independently but she also loves to play games with her family.
-She loves to watch Strawberry Shortcake and Angelina Ballerina.  She also loves Disney Junior shows.
-She weighs 28 lbs and is 3 ft tall!

On her actual birthday, she woke up and she got to open presents!

Then we got ready for their second day of swim lessons.

Then we had a birthday treat of donuts!

Connor took the day off work and we decided to go to Great America.  My cousin, Darla, was in town so we met up with them!

After Great America, we had some cupcakes so we could sing her Happy Birthday!

IMG 1868

We had her actual party on Father’s Day.  Connor has like sharing that day with her the last few years so for now it will continue.

Kinsley really wanted a Strawberry Shortcake party so as usual I made her a special cake.

IMG 1569

I also made some yummy strawberry and choclate cupcakes.  I actually was impressed with myself.

Last Day of School

Corbin is done with 1st grade!

It was fun to get to know Ms. Mih this year.  She was an excellent teacher and Corbin says she is famous because she won Teacher of the Year this school year.  Corbin really did well as a 1st grader and it will be sad to leave this year behind.

Cason is now a preschool graduate and will be moving on to Kindergarten!

Untitled 2

This was definitely bittersweet for me.

Cason’s class had a little performance and a “Bubble Ceremony” for their graduation.  It so was so cute and made me a bit teary!

I am proud of both my boys.  They are so sweet and helpful and I love them so much!

Lots and Lots of Baseball

Both boys were in baseball again this year but they were on different teams which made for lots of time spent at games and practices but it sure was fun (for the most part)!  Of course it seemed that our lives revolved around baseball from February until June but since I love baseball we were able to bear it.  Now looking back, I wouldn’t change it!

Corbin on the Phillies!

This was Corbin’s first year out of t-ball and into Pioneer.  Connor was an assitant coach for his team.  (There were 4 boys on this teacm that had little brothers on Cason’s t-ball team that Connor was the head coach.)  Corbin was excited at first but then the season started to seem long and he was frustrated with practices.  He also seemed to stop trying as hard, but then near the end he started putting more effort and loving it again.  The main issue he has was when you struck out, you were out and he was really upset about that every at bat.  I tried showing him professional players and how often they strike out but it took some time for that to sink in.

At the end of the season, Corbin got his normal trophy and then also the larger Most Improved Player trophy.  One player on each team gets this and Corbin was so excited and happy about this.  I’m not sure he completely understood what it meant at first and when he came over to show me he said, “I thought Jack or Caleb would have gotten this!)  I think it mad him like baseball even more!

Cason on the A’s.  This was Cason’s second year on t-bal and Connor was the head coach!  Cason did great and was always ready and willing to play.  I love that Cason is always willing to try and never complains about it!

Our House: Laundry Room

We mostly completed the laundry room way back in November.  The only thing I needed was to get the last pictures hung on the wall and then it would be complete.  With the holidays and then my feet problems, finishing it has taken a back seat.  But finally I made it a priority and it is done!

When we first moved in, I knew that we would need to do something to the laundry room.  It was "done" as far as floors, paint and light fixture but there was really no where to put anything.  There were these sink hookups hanging off the wall and the washer and dryer and that was it.  So, I searched Pinterest for some of my favorite laundry rooms and quickly decided that none of those were going to work for the size of our room or our budget.  While I feel like I have a HUGE laundry room (because I've never actually had a laundry room before) it is not quite as large as the people that own the ones I see on Pinterest.  I then focused my Pinterest search on rooms that were more reasonable.  But even doing that there were just too many choices.  My main problem was layout.  I'm not a designer and I have no idea how to make something functional AND nice looking.  In the end I decided that we should go with some cabinets and a few open shelves.

I do have to say that Connor and I disagreed at first about how this whole project would go.  We looked at LOTS of options, including buying cabinets from Home Depot and installing them ourselves.  I wasn't necessarily opposed to this but I did not want cheap cabinets.  I wanted a nicer cabinet so that it would match our home.  But we had no idea how much someting like this would cost, or how it could be installed.  The person who put in the lights in our back room (used as a toy room/office) could install the sink and plumbing and we hired someone to custom build the cabinets and then a different person to paint them all.  (These were the same ones who built and painted our mud room cabinets in the garage.)

Here is the before from the house listing:

Then after we moved in:

The cabinets sitting in the garage (upside down) before they were installed:

After they were installed:

We still had the old light fixture up.  Even though I thought the light fixture was fine, it was in the way of opening the cabinets so we had recessed lighting installed.

After the sink, counter and lights were installed and the cabinets were painted.

The finishing touches:

And still after all these months, I LOVE being in my laundry room.  I love to do laundry in there and I just love the way it looks.  We have thought about someday doing a backsplash behind the sink but for now we like it how it is!
