3 little readers!

I took this video one night when all 3 kids were reading out loud.  I just love my 3 little readers.

Corbin’s Birthday

Our sweet and oldest son turned 7!! What a great and wonderful day we had!!  Nana flew in the day before and Papa came his birthday morning and we had some fun stuff planned.

For his birthday breakfast he requested bacon.  Of course, I had to make some eggs to go with it!

The kids always enjoy the house being decorated in their honor.

Then on to present time!

Of course there were Lego’s!

At first Corbin just wanted to stay home the whole day playing with toys but finally he was convinced to get out and do something.  He chose Safari Run.

After Safari Run, he wanted som iPad time.  He even kept his hat on!

For his “party” he really wanted to have it at his Aunt Holly and Uncle Jona’s place.  They were nice enough to agree to it.  Luckily they have a pool where we ate and had cake.

Corbin really wanted an octopus cake.  Thank goodness for the internet to give me ideas on how to pull that off.  Here was the easiest version I could find to make.

The kids and Connor decided to take a quick dip in the hot tub.

Then they got dried off and we went back to Holly and Jona’s place.  Corbin had requested a Go Fish tournament.

I have to admit that was really fun!

Papa read them a book with made up words and the kids were cracking up.

Thanks to Holly and Jona for hosting a super fun party!

What can I say about our handsome, fun and sweet 7 year old!! He’s the best.  I think of him as he has grown all these years and feel so proud of the boy he has become.  He’s been a pleasure to raise and as he has gotten older and easier I really enjoy spending time with him.  He is much like me and I can appreciate that and understand him better because of it.  When he is happy he is the best to be around.  When he is grumpy it’s hard to get him out of it.  We are learning as we go of how to best way to talk to him is.  He is not very forth coming with his feelings but when I get even a smidgen of anything, I feel that is progress.  He does pretty well in school and I think he felt very accomplished by being one of only 3 kids in his class to pass all 13 sight word lists in a row.  That meant he got a gold star to display, something all the kids were working towards.  He loves to read but not so much novel chapter books.  He likes Star Wars, Lego’s, Superhero books as well as books about things like space or animals.

I asked Corbin the normal birthday questions and these are his answers.

The kids were excited to see the amount of water in the reservoir.  Very nice to see!

For dinner that evening we went to Smash Burger.  Since it was Valentine’s Day it was dead.  It was also beautiful enough to eat outside!
